Is There A New Fossil Sherriff In Town?

As a St. Louis Rams fan it was very upsetting to watch Scott Linehan sign one FOSL (friends of Scott Linehan) after another. Well don't look now but there is a new fossil collector in town and his name is Steve Spagnuolo. Spagnuolo has signed 3 ex-Giants players so far during free agency. In addition his first pick up last year was S James Butler another New York Giant. That would be bad enough but let's not forget the time Steve Spagnuolo spent with the Philadelphia Eagles. Since the start of the 2009 NFL season the Rams have also gathered in Danny Amendola, Brandon Gibson and Hank Fraley all from the Eagles organization. Are the St. Louis Rams collecting talent and improving their roster or just gathering fossils?

St. Louis Rams Sign CB Kevin Dockery

The St. Louis Rams signed cornerback Kevin Dockery on Monday. Dockery made 25 tackles in 2009 while playing in 11 games for the Giants. The Rams who claim to want bigger, stronger, faster players have signed another undersized player in Dockery who is 5'8" and 190 pounds. Dockery has 149 tackles and 3 interceptions in his NFL career. Dockery was not tendered an offer by the Giants where he was viewed at best their 4th cornerback on the depth chart. I guess the Rams can at least say they are spending money, but I am not sure what they are getting for it.

St. Louis Rams Sign TE Darcy Johnson

The St. Louis Rams signed 6'5" Tight end Darcy Johnson on Monday. Steve Spagnuolo has signed yet another ex-Giant. Three of the five free agents the Rams have signed are ex-Giants and don't forget James Hall from last year. In addition Hank Fraley played for the Eagles while Spagnuolo was on the coaching staff there. Johnson had 5 catches for 32 yards last year for the Giants while playing in 13 games. During his three year career Johnson has only 9 catches for 78 yards. Good thing we landed Johnson before he was caught by another team dreaming about catching a backup of a backup for their TE position.
